EMDR THERAPY SERVICES IN NEW JERSEY

You know something needs to change. Let's talk about what.

Maybe you're constantly overthinking. Maybe your relationships keep following the same script. Maybe you've spent years understanding exactly why you feel the way you do, and you're wondering why understanding hasn't made it any easier.

That's where our work begins.

I offer neurodiversity-affirming EMDR therapy for adults in New Jersey, including extended sessions and EMDR intensives. We'll look at what's keeping you stuck and figure out an approach that makes sense for you.

You can understand the pattern.

And still be stuck in it.

THE SERVICE EDIT / 01—06

Different experiences. Familiar patterns.

Anxiety. Trauma. Relationships. The things you do to cope. Sometimes it's one thing. Usually, it's a few things tangled together.

You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what to call it. Start with whatever sounds familiar.

01 EMDR THERAPY FOR ANXIETY IN NEW JERSEY

Anxiety & Overthinking

Your brain has a running commentary. On everything.

The replaying. The anticipating. The feeling that something bad is always around the corner. Even when everything seems fine.

LOOK A LITTLE CLOSER
THE PART YOU DON'T ALWAYS SAY OUT LOUD

“I can't turn my brain off.”

WHAT IT CAN LOOK LIKE

You replay conversations. Anticipate problems that haven't happened. Feel responsible for keeping everything running smoothly.

People see someone capable and successful, but internally you're exhausted. Even when you finally have time to relax, your brain finds something else to worry about.

WHAT MIGHT BE UNDERNEATH

Sometimes anxiety is connected to experiences that taught you to stay alert, anticipate other people's needs, or believe that making a mistake means something terrible will happen.

You may understand those patterns intellectually and still feel them in your body.

WHERE EMDR COMES IN

You can know exactly why you do something and still keep doing it. That's the frustrating part.

With EMDR therapy for anxiety, we can work with distressing experiences, triggers, and beliefs that may be keeping you on edge.

The goal isn't to stop caring or thinking. It's to have more flexibility in how you respond.

02 EMDR THERAPY FOR TRAUMA & PTSD IN NEW JERSEY

Trauma & PTSD

Just because it's over doesn't mean it feels over.

You know you're not back there. But your reactions, memories, or sense of safety don't always seem to agree.

LOOK A LITTLE CLOSER
THE PART YOU DON'T ALWAYS SAY OUT LOUD

“I'm always bracing for something bad.”

WHAT IT CAN LOOK LIKE

Maybe certain situations bring up reactions you can't fully explain. You might experience intrusive memories, nightmares, emotional numbness, irritability, or an ongoing feeling that something isn't safe.

And sometimes you're frustrated with yourself because you know the experience is over. So why does it still feel so present?

WHAT MIGHT BE UNDERNEATH

Trauma can involve abuse, accidents, medical experiences, violence, loss, or other overwhelming events.

The effects aren't always obvious. Two people can go through similar experiences and respond in completely different ways.

WHERE EMDR COMES IN

EMDR is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD that helps people process distressing memories.

We aren't trying to convince you that what happened wasn't a big deal. We're working toward reducing the impact those experiences continue to have.

Treatment includes preparation, identifying appropriate targets, and working at a pace that supports safety and stability.

03 EMDR THERAPY FOR CHILDHOOD TRAUMA IN NEW JERSEY

Childhood Trauma

You grew up. Some of those beliefs came with you.

Being the responsible one. Keeping the peace. Feeling like love, approval, or safety depended on getting everything right.

LOOK A LITTLE CLOSER
THE PART YOU DON'T ALWAYS SAY OUT LOUD

“I'm scared I'll never be good enough.”

WHAT IT CAN LOOK LIKE

You're the one everyone depends on. You struggle to say no, feel guilty when you disappoint someone, or have a hard time believing you deserve the things you've worked for.

Maybe you've spent your adult life trying to prove something without knowing exactly what.

WHAT MIGHT BE UNDERNEATH

Childhood emotional neglect, criticism, instability, abuse, or difficult family dynamics can influence the beliefs we develop about ourselves.

Experiences involving cultural expectations, immigration, or growing up between different worlds can add additional layers.

Sometimes the rules you learned to survive childhood are the same rules making adulthood feel exhausting.

WHERE EMDR COMES IN

EMDR therapy can help process distressing early experiences and the negative beliefs connected to them.

We can explore how those beliefs continue to influence your relationships, boundaries, and sense of self today.

Because understanding why you became the person who handles everything is one thing. Feeling like you don't have to handle everything is another.

04 EMDR THERAPY FOR RELATIONSHIP TRAUMA IN NEW JERSEY

Relationship Trauma

Different relationship. Familiar feeling. Again.

The second-guessing. The betrayal. The conversations you replay long after they're over. And the patterns you're tired of repeating.

LOOK A LITTLE CLOSER
THE PART YOU DON'T ALWAYS SAY OUT LOUD

“What if no one ever really loves me?”

WHAT IT CAN LOOK LIKE

You replay the argument. Wonder whether you overreacted. Try to communicate better, be more understanding, or give someone another chance.

And somehow, you end up feeling confused and responsible all over again.

Sometimes the answer isn't in what happened this time. It's in what keeps happening.

WHAT MIGHT BE UNDERNEATH

Betrayal, emotional abuse, intimate partner violence, difficult attachment experiences, and repeated relationship patterns can shape beliefs about trust, safety, and responsibility.

That doesn't mean every relationship problem is someone else's fault. It means taking a closer look at what belongs to you, what doesn't, and what you may not have been seeing.

WHERE EMDR COMES IN

EMDR can help you process distressing relationship experiences and the beliefs associated with them.

We'll also look at what keeps repeating, what you keep tolerating, and where your own patterns may be getting in the way.

The goal isn't to keep analyzing every conversation. It's to understand the bigger picture well enough to make different choices.

05 EMDR THERAPY FOR PHOBIAS IN NEW JERSEY

Phobias & Fears

You know it doesn't make sense. That doesn't make it less real.

The fear, the anticipation, the elaborate planning to avoid something other people don't think twice about.

LOOK A LITTLE CLOSER
THE PART YOU DON'T ALWAYS SAY OUT LOUD

“I know it's irrational. I still can't make myself do it.”

WHAT IT CAN LOOK LIKE

Maybe you avoid flying, driving, medical procedures, certain places, or situations that trigger intense fear.

You plan around the possibility of encountering them. Sometimes the anticipation is just as difficult as the experience itself.

And having someone tell you there's nothing to worry about hasn't exactly solved the problem.

WHAT MIGHT BE UNDERNEATH

Specific fears can be associated with frightening experiences, learned responses, or distressing memories.

Even when you logically recognize that a situation is relatively safe, the fear response can still feel immediate and overwhelming.

WHERE EMDR COMES IN

EMDR may help address distressing memories and associations contributing to certain phobias.

We'll explore whether EMDR is appropriate for your particular fear and what other treatment strategies may be useful.

Because knowing something logically and feeling differently about it aren't always the same thing.

06 EMDR FOR BEHAVIORAL ADDICTIONS IN NEW JERSEY

Behavioral Addictions

When the thing helping you cope starts becoming the problem.

Shopping. Gambling. Food noise. Scrolling. Control. Sometimes the thing that gives you temporary relief is also keeping the cycle going.

LOOK A LITTLE CLOSER
THE PART YOU DON'T ALWAYS SAY OUT LOUD

“I know it's making things worse. So why do I keep doing it?”

WHAT IT CAN LOOK LIKE

Maybe it's shopping when you're overwhelmed, gambling when you want an escape, scrolling until 2 a.m., or feeling like you can't stop working.

Sometimes it's food, sex, or a constant need to stay in control. The behavior might give you temporary relief, followed by shame, regret, or another round of the same cycle.

And the frustrating part? You might understand exactly what you're doing and still have a hard time stopping.

WHAT MIGHT BE UNDERNEATH

Compulsive coping patterns can be connected to emotional distress, avoidance, shame, and beliefs about yourself.

Sometimes the behavior isn't the whole problem. It's also worth looking at what you're trying to get away from, what you're trying to feel, and what happens when you don't have that familiar way of coping.

With my background in substance use and co-occurring concerns, I understand that these patterns are rarely as simple as having more willpower.

WHERE EMDR COMES IN

When clinically appropriate, EMDR-informed approaches, including the DeTUR protocol, may be incorporated into treatment to address triggers and distressing experiences.

We'll look at the behavior itself, the beliefs and emotions connected to it, and what kind of support makes sense for your situation.

Because knowing something isn't working is one thing. Understanding what's keeping the cycle going gives us something to work with.

THE APPROACH / EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION & REPROCESSING

Understanding it is one thing. Feeling different is another.

You can know exactly where a pattern came from and still find yourself reacting the same way.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that helps people process distressing memories and the beliefs connected to them.

It isn't about forcing yourself to think positively or pretending something didn't happen. It's about giving your brain an opportunity to process experiences that may still be influencing how you feel and respond today.

And no, you don't necessarily have to tell me every detail of what happened.

Because insight matters. But it doesn't have to be the finish line.
